Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University

Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University at Faith Bible Church of Lake Charles

 Stop worrying about money

If you’re like me, it would be nice to be totally debt free and not have to worry about being unprepared for financial emergencies. Creditors? Who needs them? It’s high time I do something about it. That’s why we are bringing Dave Ramsey’s class to Lake Charles.

Faith Bible Church of Lake Charles will be hosting Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University, a biblically-based 13 week video training series this January. Topics covered are cash flow planning, investing, saving, credit, retirement, and giving.

Why live paycheck to paycheck? Let Dave Ramsey help you get out of debt, start saving, and begin to control your money rather than having it control you. Contrary to popular wisdom, the key to financial freedom is not more money, but using your money wisely.

Old-Fashioned Sunday – Lake Charles Family Church

If you didn’t make it out to Faith Bible Church of Lake Charles’ Old-Fashioned Sunday this past weekend you missed out on a ton of great worship opportunities, awesome fellowship, delicious food, and fun games. The building was packed with wonderful people ready to praise God and hear from Him as we are looking forward to effectivey impacting a constantly changing society by meeting people where they are and helping them on their journey to where God wants them to be. We are moving forward by looking back.

Last weekend, Faith Bible Church of Lake Charles looked back at four of the ancient landmarks we can count on concerning Jesus Christ. As Christians we rely on these same biblical truths the church has held dear for over 2000 years. They are the virgin birth Christ, His substitutionary death, His resurrection, and personal salvation by grace through faith.

Many got into the spirit of the day by dressing in olf-fashioned clothing. We really felt like we were having a picnic on the prairie.

Here, the children got in on the fun by searching for candy and goodies in a pile of hay.

Could it really be an old-fashioned day on the prairie without chickens? They definately got their exercise as they chased these roosters.

Abbas Concert – Faith Bible Church of Lake Charles

Picture of George Abbas playing pianoWe had a great time Sunday night with George and Kathleen Abbas as they sang and played several instruments, ranging from trumpet to guitar to ukulele. That’s right, a ukulele. A cute little blue one at that. Both George and Kathy play the piano (very well, I might add), and they also both play the trumpet.

They led us in worship with their very own blend of music and humor that is all based on the Word of God. The songs they sang were mostly what are called Scripture songs. These are the actual words of the Bible set to music providing an awesome vehicle for memorizing the Word of God. Their music appeals to a wide range of ages, from children to senior adult.

We are already looking forward to the next time they are in the area so we can book them again.

We would also like to invite you to visit with us for morning worship on Sundays at 10:00 am. For the next four weeks weeks we will be going through our sermon series entitled “Worship Matters”. We look forward to seeing you at Faith Bible Church of Lake Charles – Your Family Place. Nursery is provided.

Free Concert – Faith Bible Church of Lake Charles

If you like encouraging and uplifting music, then consider coming out to hear musicians George and Kathleen Abbas from Denver, Colorado performing at Faith Bible Church of Lake Charles Sunday night October 10th at 6:30 p.m. There is no charge for admission and nursery service will be provided.

George and Kathleen Abbas Musicians PictureSince 1987, George and Kathleen Abbas of Abbas Ministries, Inc., have been traveling full-time, inspiring people of all ages, throughout the U.S. and several foreign countries, with their singing and playing of the piano, keyboards, trumpets, and acoustic guitar. The Abbases have ministered in numerous churches, schools, camps, and conference centers. George and Kathleen’s innovative music is original, positive, rich in content, and full of hope. They present vocal and instrumental arrangements of Scripture songs, hymns and gospel songs, using piano, keyboard, guitar, cornets, using their own orchestrated background music. Audience participation is encouraged in singing new and familiar songs. Teaching the biblical significance of songs, recitations of favorite portions of Scripture, and the winsome poetry of George Abbas, Sr., are interspersed in the service, making for a unique and memorable audience experience.

The objective of the Abbases’ music ministry is best expressed by Colossians 3:16, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”

For twelve years they served in the music departments of two Denver area churches. Their home church is Columbine Baptist Church in Littleton, CO, pastored by Harold Marcilliott. (excerpted from www.abbasministries.org)

We look forward to seeing at Faith Bible Church of Lake Charles on Sunday night, October 10th, at 6:30 p.m. The concert is free and you are encouraged to bring your friends as well.
