The Courage to Stand For Jesus

Bible in a Year: Ezra 6–8; John 16:5–33

"Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell." — Matthew 10:28

Today's Scripture & Insight: Matthew 10:26-33

Being a follower of Jesus doesn't always mean smooth sailing. In fact, Jesus Himself told us that we will face opposition and challenges because of our faith. Standing for Jesus in a world that often rejects Him can require great courage.

In the book of Matthew, Jesus encourages His disciples not to fear those who oppose them. The worst that people can do is harm the body, but they cannot touch the soul. Instead, we are to hold in awe the One who holds eternity in His hands.

God doesn't promise that we won't face opposition, but He does promise to be with us when we do. As followers of Jesus, our goal is not to avoid conflict at all costs, but to remain faithful to Him, standing firm in our faith despite the challenges we may face.

In a world where faith is often ridiculed, let's have the courage to stand for Jesus. We may face opposition, but we can take heart in knowing that our Father in Heaven is with us every step of the way.

Reflect & Pray

Where do you need the courage to stand for Jesus today? How can you lean into God's strength when facing opposition?

Heavenly Father, give us the courage to stand for Jesus in a world that often rejects Him. Help us remember that You are always with us, no matter what we face. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
