Discovering Hope

Bible in a Year: Job 7-8; Acts 7

"And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us." — Romans 5:5

Today's Scripture & Insight: Romans 5:1-5

Anna had always been a skeptic. While she respected her friends who had faith, she struggled to see how their belief in a God she couldn't see, or touch could be more than wishful thinking. That was until she faced a series of personal trials that left her feeling desperate and empty. During this time, her friend Sarah sat with her and shared, "Anna, even in our darkest hours, we can find hope. There's a Love that surpasses understanding."

Romans 5:5 speaks about a hope that does not disappoint or put us to shame. This isn't the kind of hope that simply wishes for better days. It is a confident assurance, anchored in the unchanging nature of God's love, demonstrated most profoundly in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

This hope isn't exclusive to a select few. It's extended to everyone, even those who, like Anna, might be wrestling with doubts. It’s a gift of love that we can experience when we open our hearts to the possibility of a relationship with Jesus.

Belief in Jesus isn't about ignoring the realities of life or clinging to wishful thinking. It's about discovering a love so profound that it brings light to the darkest corners of our lives. It's about finding a hope that anchors the soul, a hope that provides peace amid turmoil and joy in the midst of sorrow.

Reflect & Pray

If you have doubts, what holds you back from exploring the possibility of hope in Jesus? If you believe, how can you share this hope with others?

Lord, thank You for the hope that we find in You. Help us open our hearts to Your love, and give us the courage to share this hope with those around us. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
