The Beauty of Humility

Bible in a Year: 2 Kings 23-25; John 5:16-30

"all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble." 1 Peter 5:5

Today's Scripture & Insight: 1 Peter 5:1-7

In a world that often idolizes self-promotion and influence, humility can seem out of place. Yet, the Bible tells us that God gives grace to the humble.

Consider the humility of John the Baptist. When he saw Jesus coming toward him, John declared, "He must increase, but I must decrease" (John 3:30). His statement reveals a profound understanding of true humility. It's not about self-degradation but about making more room for God, allowing His light to shine brighter than ours.

Humility isn't a sign of weakness but a mark of strength, knowing our rightful place in relation to God. It's understanding that we are not the center of the universe, but God is. And in that understanding, we find peace and purpose.

In our daily lives, humility looks like preferring others, listening attentively, apologizing when we're wrong, and acknowledging our dependence on God. It's a beautiful quality that draws others to the grace of God.

Reflect & Pray

How can you practice humility today? How does humility help us to live more like Jesus?

Lord, teach me to walk humbly with You, acknowledging that all I have and all I am comes from You.
