Embrace Peace
Bible in a Year: Psalm 34-36; Romans 8
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." — Philippians 4:6-7
Today's Scripture & Insight: Philippians 4:6-8
After a string of unexpected problems, Lily was filled with fear and worry. Life's worries hung over her like a cloud, making her feel alone and afraid.
During a quiet moment, she read Philippians 4:6-7, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
These verses were like a lifeline to Lily because they helped her remember to pray about her worries. They told her that peace is not the absence of problems but the presence of God in the midst of problems.
When there is a lot of uncertainty in the world, we may feel worried. But the Bible tells us to tell God about our worries and trust that His peace will keep our hearts and minds safe.
If you, like Lily, feel like your worries are getting to you, remember that God wants us to tell Him about them. We don't have to worry because we know that His peace will keep us safe, even in the hardest times of life.
Reflect & Pray
What fears are you carrying today? How can you bring these to God and allow His peace to replace your worry?
Dear Lord, help us to bring our worries to You and to trust in Your loving care. May Your peace, which transcends all understanding, guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Amen.
