Entrusting Our Children to God's Care
Bible in a Year: Ezra 3–5; John 15:18–16:4
“Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it.”
— Proverbs 22:6
Today's Scripture & Insight: Proverbs 22:6
As parents, one of the most daunting aspects of raising children is the realization that, at some point, they will grow up and step into the world on their own. With this prospect comes a flurry of concerns and fears about the choices they'll make and the challenges they'll face.
In the book of Proverbs, the wise counsel to "start children off on the way they should go" gives us both a responsibility and a promise. The responsibility is to guide our children in God's truths, instilling in them a moral compass based on His Word. The promise is that these teachings will remain with them, providing guidance even when we are not physically present.
In entrusting our children to God, we acknowledge that their lives ultimately belong to Him, not us. We can do our best to raise them, but it is God who lovingly watches over them, guiding their steps according to His good purpose.
As we navigate the bittersweet journey of letting our children go, let's continue to pray for them, entrusting them into God's capable hands. Our role shifts from primary caregiver to prayer warrior, but our influence in their lives remains powerful through our prayers.
Reflect & Pray
How can you entrust your children to God's care today? How can your prayers influence their lives as they step into adulthood?
Father, we thank You for the privilege of raising our children. As they grow, help us to trust You with their lives. May they walk in Your ways all their days. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
