Finding Strength and Comfort in Illness
Bible in a Year: Psalm 1-3; Acts 25
"He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." — Psalm 147:3
Today's Scripture & Insight: Psalm 147:2-6
James, a father and grandfather, was afraid and didn't know what to do when he got a sudden diagnosis. His health problem hurt him both physically and mentally and emotionally. The road ahead seemed gloomy and full of obstacles.
Psalm 147:3, which says, "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds," gave him comfort when things were the worst.
This verse gives us the comforting knowledge that God is the only one who can really heal us. Not only can He heal our bodies, but He can also heal our minds and hearts. His love and mercy surround us and give us comfort when things are hard.
From a human point of view, it might be hard to see why we have to go through pain, especially when our health is at stake. Yet, God's plans transcend our understanding. Our job is to put our trust in His knowledge and let His healing and strength work in us.
Like James, do you have problems with your health? Remember that God is the one who heals. Lean on His words, trust in His power, and find comfort in the fact that He loves you no matter what.
