Bible in a Year: Job 15-16; Acts 11

"But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere." — James 3:17

Today's Scripture & Insight: James 3:13-18

Peter was known among his friends as a passionate and strong-willed individual. He believed that with sheer will and determination, he could conquer any problem. But when life threw him a curveball, his own wisdom seemed insufficient. His friend Lydia gently reminded him, "Peter, true wisdom doesn't come from our understanding but from God."

James 3:17 describes the characteristics of the wisdom that comes from heaven. It's pure, peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial, and sincere. This divine wisdom doesn't rely on human intellect or reasoning but on God's perfect understanding.

Living in a world full of challenges and complexities, we often rely on our own wisdom to navigate life. But as Peter discovered, our understanding can sometimes fall short. We need God's wisdom—the kind that fosters peace, encourages humility, practices mercy, and produces good fruit.

Applying God's wisdom doesn't mean we'll have all the answers, but it means we're leaning on the One who does. It involves trusting God to guide our steps and shape our decisions, acknowledging that His understanding far exceeds ours.

Today, if you find yourself at a crossroads, seek the wisdom that comes from above. Remember that God's wisdom is available to all who ask. In navigating life's challenges, let His wisdom be your guide.

Reflect & Pray

What challenges are you facing today that requires God's wisdom? How can you lean on God's understanding rather than your own?

Lord, thank You for the gift of Your wisdom. Help us to lean on Your understanding in navigating life's challenges. Guide our steps, and shape our decisions. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
