Overcoming Worry
Bible in a Year: Psalm 31-33; Romans 7
"Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?" — Matthew 6:27
Today's Scripture & Insight: Matthew 6:25-34
Laura was worried all the time because her world was always changing, and she didn't know what would happen next. Financial stress, health worries, and a seemingly never-ending list of things to do made her feel anxious and overwhelmed.
She found comfort in Matthew 6:27, which says, "Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?" Jesus' words made her think about things in a new way. Worrying wouldn't help her solve her problems or make her live longer. Instead, it would take away the peace and joy she could have right now.
This Bible verse reminds us that God is in charge because He is sovereign. Even though we may face problems and challenges, worrying about them won't change anything. Instead, we are told to put His kingdom and righteousness first and trust that He will take care of our needs.
Worrying is a normal reaction to the unknowns in life, but it's not a good or helpful one. Instead of giving in to worry, let's choose to put our trust in God's care, keeping in mind that He is in charge and cares deeply about us.
Like Laura, do you worry all the time? Think about Matthew 6:27 and let it change the way you see things. Instead of worrying, put your trust in God's care and provision.
Reflect & Pray
What worries are consuming you today? How can trust in God's provision and care help you overcome your worry?
Dear Lord, thank You for Your sovereign care and provision. Help us to trust You more deeply, especially when we're tempted to worry. Remind us of Your power and Your love for us. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
