Rejoicing in God's Goodness
Bible in a Year: 2 Chronicles 20–22; John 12:1–19
“Let all that I am praise the Lord; with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name. Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things he does for me.” Psalm 103:1-2
Today's Scripture & Insight: Psalm 103:1-22
“Look at the beautiful sunset, mommy!” Jill’s five-year-old son exclaimed from the back seat. She glanced out the window, awed by the brilliant hues of gold, pink, and blue streaking across the sky. Despite the stress of the day, a wave of gratitude washed over a suddenly relaxed mom.
Often, we become so entrenched in our troubles that we forget to see the blessings God continually bestows on us. It takes moments of simple, childlike wonder, like appreciating a sunset, to remind us of His goodness.
King David offers this reminder in Psalm 103. David commands his soul to bless the Lord and not forget His benefits. He acknowledges God as the forgiver, healer, redeemer, and satisfier (vv. 3–5). No matter our circumstances, these truths about God's character remain constant.
Each sunrise and sunset is a testament to God's love and goodness. Each new day is an opportunity to receive His mercy afresh. As we navigate the ups and downs of life, let's remember to give thanks for His blessings and rejoice in His goodness.
Reflect & Pray
