Remembering With Gratitude
Bible in a Year: 2 Chronicles 4–6; John 9:24–41
“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” John 15:13
Today's Scripture & Insight: John 15:9–17
As we gather with friends and family on this Memorial Day, we remember the selfless men and women who laid down their lives in service to our nation. Their sacrifice echoes in the words of Jesus, "Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends" (John 15:13). This scripture, a poignant reminder of the ultimate sacrifice, stirs in us a profound gratitude for those who served with honor and courage.
Jesus, our Savior, laid down His life so that we might live. In the same way, brave soldiers, sailors, airmen, marines, and coastguardsmen have followed in His footsteps, offering their lives to protect the freedoms we hold dear.
As we enjoy the freedoms their sacrifices have secured, let us also remember to lift up prayers of comfort for the families they left behind. We honor their memory today and every day by living with integrity, compassion, and love for our neighbors.
Reflect & Pray
How can we honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice? How can we bring comfort to their families?
Dear God, we thank You for the bravery and sacrifice of those who served our nation. May we honor them through our lives and actions.
