The Anchor in the Storm - Sailboat on peaceful water

Bible in a Year: Psalm 40-41; Romans 10

"Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and he brought them out of their distress." — Psalm 107:28

Today's Scripture & Insight: Psalm 107:23-32

John, an experienced sailor, was in the middle of a terrible storm. The waves crashed into his boat, the wind howled around him, and he felt a rush of fear like he'd never felt before. He felt helpless when he saw how weak his ship was compared to the power of nature.

John was desperate. As he thought of Psalm 107:28, which says, "Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and he brought them out of their distress." This verse wasn't just words on a page; it was a promise that God hears us when we're in trouble and will help us get through it.

Like John, the sailors in this Psalm were caught in a storm. When they asked the Lord for help, He calmed the storm to a whisper and led them to the safe place they wanted to be. This isn't just a story — it's a demonstration of how strong and kind God is. It shows that no storm is too big for God to calm.

Remember Psalm 107:28 when you're in the middle of a storm, whether it's real or not. When you're in trouble, cry out to God and trust that He will help you. He can stop the storm and show you how to get to safety.

Reflect & Pray

What storms are you facing in your life right now? How can crying out to God and trusting in His power bring calm to your chaos?

Dear Lord, thank You for Your promise to hear us when we cry out to You. Help us trust in Your power to bring us through our storms. Still our chaos, and guide us to safety. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
