The Voice of Encouragement
"So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing."
Through the Bible in a Year: Genesis 1-4; Matthew 1-2
Today's Scripture & Insight: 1 Thessalonians 5:9–11
Despite his cheerful demeanor, Timmy struggled with self-doubt. One day, his summer league coach noticed Timmy sitting alone, looking defeated after a tough soccer match. The coach approached Timmy, praising his efforts and reassuring him of his potential. This simple act of encouragement transformed Timmy's outlook. He began to believe in himself, and his performance improved drastically.
In the Bible, we find Apostle Paul reminding the Thessalonians to encourage one another and build each other up (1 Thessalonians 5:11). Encouragement, as Paul suggests, is not merely an act of kindness. It is a powerful tool that can lift spirits, strengthen faith, and foster resilience.
Just like Timmy's coach, we are called to be voices of encouragement in our communities. We might not realize it, but our words can have a profound impact on someone's life. We can affirm their worth and potential, just as our Heavenly Father affirms ours.
God encourages us through His promises, assuring us of His love and presence in our lives. As we receive encouragement from God, we are called to pass it on, encouraging others with the same comfort we have received (2 Corinthians 1:4).
Are you willing to be a voice of encouragement in someone's life today? Remember, by encouraging others, we mirror God's love and affirm the intrinsic worth that He has placed within each one of us.
Father, help me to encourage someone today.
