"For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." — Matthew 6:21
Today's Scripture & Insight: Matthew 6:19-24
Laura had always been a prudent saver, diligently setting aside a portion of her earnings each month. But she also knew the importance of giving generously to God's work and helping those in need. One day, a conversation with a friend challenged her perspective on money: "Laura, do we manage our money, or does our money manage us?"
Jesus speaks about the attitude of our hearts towards money in Matthew 6:21: "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." Our use of money is a barometer of our hearts, revealing our values and priorities.
The world encourages us to accumulate wealth, but Jesus calls us to a different standard: to use our resources wisely and generously for His kingdom. He invites us to see money as a tool rather than a goal—a means to advance His kingdom and help those in need.
How we use our money doesn't only impact our lives but also echoes in eternity. Are we investing in treasures that moth and rust destroy, or are we investing in God's kingdom, storing up treasures in heaven?
If you, like Laura, find yourself wrestling with your use of money, remember Jesus' words. Consider your priorities and ask God to guide your financial decisions. And remember, the best investment we can make is in God's eternal kingdom.
Reflect & Pray
What is your attitude towards money? How can you use your resources more effectively for God's kingdom?
Lord, thank You for entrusting us with resources. Help us to manage them wisely, using our money to advance Your kingdom and help those in need. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
